Carmelo Anthony on the court

Objective

The objective of this project was to develop a modern sportswear marketing campaign centered on the Air Jordan 12 “Melo” sneaker. The campaign reimagines the storytelling style of classic Nike and Jordan Brand advertising, particularly the iconic “It’s Gotta Be the Shoes” era.

The work was created to demonstrate how contemporary visual storytelling can reconnect a retro sneaker release to the legacy of Carmelo Anthony while introducing that story to a new generation of sneaker consumers. The project specifically required producing one cinematic promotional video.

Synopsis

“Stay Me7o” explores the idea that Carmelo Anthony’s legacy is defined by authenticity and longevity. The campaign draws inspiration from early Jordan Brand storytelling, streetwear editorial photography, and modern sneaker culture marketing.

Visually, the work references classic sports commercials where athletes are portrayed as both cultural icons and everyday people. The campaign blends cinematic lighting, close product shots, and lifestyle imagery to capture the feeling of legacy meeting the present moment.

The narrative concept “Then & Now. Stay Me7o.” emphasizes how Melo’s influence continues across generations—from his early NBA career to his Hall of Fame recognition and enduring impact on sneaker culture.

Results

The final project produced a cohesive campaign concept that demonstrates how storytelling can elevate a sneaker release beyond simple product marketing. Deliverables included:

The work demonstrates skills in creative direction, commercial photography, video production, and brand storytelling. The campaign also illustrates how legacy sports narratives can be adapted for modern digital platforms.
